CHAT raises $16.5 million to fund housing complex for people with disabilities and those on fixed incomes |

CHAT received a $16.5 million grant from the state.

CHICO, Calif. – The Chico Housing Action Team announced it has received $16.5 million in funding from the State of California to fund the construction of a housing complex for people with disabilities and those on low incomes.

“The wealth of experience and guidance this team brought to the planning process is a tremendous contribution to CHAT and a gift to the entire Chico community,” she added. “This project will enable CHAT to provide housing to even more people, especially those who are most vulnerable, that meets their specific needs,” said Leslie Johnson, co-founder and board chair of CHAT.

CHAT accepted the grant and is launching a campaign to support this project and its existing programs.

“This is a pivotal time for CHAT and we need the support of our community more than ever before. This project, along with other growing CHAT programs, will significantly increase the number of people we can provide with affordable housing and reduce homelessness locally. But we need the public’s help to make this vision a reality,” said Lizzie Young, CHAT Interim Executive Director.
