Less than a month ago, Ivica Zubac’s home in Los Angeles was burglarized, and today it emerged that Daniel Theis’ home in Century City was also burglarized over the weekend.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the robbery happened on Saturday, but the suspects had fled the scene when police arrived. No arrests have been made, and the pair fled in a Toyota Tacoma. Authorities said Theis had been living at the home since January, when he joined the Clippers.
It is unclear whether the robbery was targeted, but given that Ivica Zubac has already been robbed multiple times this season, it certainly wasn’t a random robbery – perhaps the robbers are watching the players’ homes once the off-season starts, waiting for them to leave.
It’s a very unfortunate situation for a player to transfer to a team in Los Angeles. With crime on the rise in the area, it feels like something is bound to happen every time a player leaves home. Most robberies occur when the house is unoccupied, so some players hire someone or a security guard to be at home all the time. Players such as Kawhi Leonard and Norman Powell avoid this situation entirely by having homes in San Diego.
We hope that nothing of value was stolen from Daniel Theis’ home.
