$25,000 reward offered for arrest of shooter who paralyzed Los Angeles father – NBC Los Angeles

Los Angeles Police on Thursday offered a $25,000 reward to track down the gunman who shot and killed a father of three near MacArthur Park.

The shooting happened around 8:45 p.m. on April 6th when the victim, Luis Hernandez, and his wife were closing their bookstore on South Alvarado Street near 7th Avenue. He had parked his car in front of the store with his three children, ages 2, 4 and 8, inside.

Police said Hernandez noticed two women arguing between his vehicle and a silver Toyota Camry parked next to it, so he walked to his vehicle to check on the situation and ensure his children were safe.

He then saw the backseat window of the Camry rolled down and “a gun pointed directly at him,” according to Officer Christian Marroquin.

After the gunman fired and Hernandez fell to the ground, the suspect’s vehicle headed north on Alvarado Street and then east on 7th Avenue before fleeing the scene, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“We don’t know if they were witnesses or involved in the incident,” police said, “but we do know that they were in the immediate vicinity of where the shooting occurred.”

The Los Angeles Police Department released images of vehicles and people near the scene at the time of the shooting.

According to images released by the LAPD, the suspect’s silver Toyota Camry appears to have been manufactured between 2008 and 2015 and has four doors, a sunroof and tinted windows.

The male suspect is described as approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds and was wearing a black hat and gray shirt.

Police say the female suspect is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs about 140 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division.
