You may be eligible for new disability benefits
The Social Security Administration can send additional checks each month to citizens with disabilities who also meet other requirements, meaning many Americans who receive a check from SSDI could be eligible for another check and potentially an increase in their monthly budget.
But you should carefully review the requirements and, of course, apply for your check as soon as possible. Until your disability benefits supplemental check is accepted, you won’t receive your check and you’ll have to wait for the Social Security Administration to approve your monthly supplemental check.
Even though this payment will pay out up to $943, not all recipients will qualify for such a large benefit. Therefore, you should consider not only your requirements for this additional disability benefit, but also how to get the maximum benefit possible. If you qualify, you will be able to receive this benefit on July 1st.
Eligibility for special disability benefits
Additional disability benefits have a special name: Supplemental Security Income. If you’re already receiving one of these benefits, you don’t have to do anything but wait until you get it. But if you haven’t received this check, you may need to review your requirements.
The first is to be disabled or over 65 years old. Citizens over 65 are also eligible to receive this check. However, you do not have to have an approved retirement plan. Simply being disabled or over 65 years old is enough to receive this monthly payment.
In addition, you must have low monthly income and few assets to qualify. Without this, you won’t be able to receive the additional monthly checks. If you’re already receiving checks, your payments will arrive on July 1, 2024.
Maximum disability allowance
The maximum Supplemental Security Income payment is $943 per month. The amount you receive in each check depends directly on your monthly income: the more you earn per month, the less SSI you will receive each month.
There are no strict minimums on SSI payments, so you can get a very low check. Plus, remember that SSI is compatible with both Social Security and disability benefits, as well as many other benefit checks.
Once you’re approved for SSI, you simply wait to receive it on the first of each month. Keep in mind, however, that if your monthly income changes, your amount can change too. Although this rarely happens, it can also cause you to stop receiving SSI.
