The LA Kings signed forward Alex Turcotte to a three-year contract through the 2026-27 season with an average annual salary of $775,000.
Turcotte, 23, will play the 2023-24 season with the Kings and their American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Ontario Reign. Turcotte made his season debut with the Kings on January 28 at St. Louis and recorded his first NHL goal and assist on January 31 at Nashville, his first career multi-point game in the league. The 5-foot-11, 185-pound forward recorded 29 points (10-19=29) and a plus-8 rating in 35 regular season games with the Reign. He was one of nine Reign skaters to score in double figures, and his 0.83 points per game average ranked fifth among all skaters on the team (min. GP: 30). Turcotte added two goals and two assists (2-2=4) in eight games in the 2024 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Selected by the Kings in the first round (5th overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft, Turcotte began his professional career with the Reign in 2020-21, scoring 28 goals, 57 assists and 85 points (28-57=85) in 126 games over four seasons. In 13 postseason games, Turcotte has scored two goals and seven points (2-5=7). Since making his NHL debut on Dec. 28, 2021, Turcotte has appeared in 32 games with the Kings, scoring four points (1-3=4).
Prior to turning professional, Turcotte played two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP) from 2017-2019, appearing in 95 games and recording 125 points (45-80=125) for the U-17 and U-18 teams. His 1.68 points per game average in 2018-19 was second among all skaters and his 80 career assists were tied for 15th in program history. Following his time with the NTDP, Turcotte played one season of collegiate hockey at the University of Wisconsin (Big Ten), recording nine goals and 26 points (9-17=26) in 29 games, third-most on the team.
A native of Elk Grove, Illinois, Turcotte represented Team USA in four different IIHF tournaments, including the IIHF Under-18 Men’s World Championship in 2018 and 2019 and the IIHF World Junior Championship in 2020 and 2021. At the U-18 level, he helped the team win a silver medal in 2018 and a bronze medal in 2019. He served as vice-captain at the 2021 U-20 World Championship in Alberta, where he earned eight points (3-5=8) in seven games and scored the game-winning goal against Canada to win the gold medal.
