Teenager stabbed another teenager to death at LAPD-sponsored street carnival

A teenager was stabbed following a fight at a Los Angeles summer carnival on Saturday night, resulting in a fatality.

A Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson confirmed to KTLA that the stabbing happened around 10:30 p.m. on Venice Boulevard near Keystone Avenue in the Palms neighborhood of Los Angeles.

At the time, organizers with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Pacific Area Boosters were hosting the second day of a three-night street carnival as part of the Palms Weekend Festival between Overland and Motor Boulevards in Venice.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the victim, identified only as a 16-year-old Hispanic boy, was stabbed multiple times by a 15-year-old boy during an altercation with several other teens.

Police said the 16-year-old boy was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Authorities added that the stabbing appears to be gang related.

No arrests had been made as of 6 a.m. Sunday, and a suspect description was not immediately released.

According to KTLA 5’s Jennifer McGraw, it appears the carnival is on track to go ahead as scheduled on its final day on Sunday.
