LOS ANGELES , June 27, 2024 /PRNewswire/ — The Amerigo Vespucci, a historic sailing and training ship of the Italian Navy and ambassador for Made in Italy worldwide, will arrive in the Port of Los Angeles from July 3 to 8. Villaggio Italia, a “multi-year mobile world exposition” of Italian excellence offering visitors a unique experience to discover the soul and beauty of Italy, will be set up in the harbor next to the Vespucci.

The Amerigo Vespucci, “the most beautiful ship in the world,” is set to sail across the ocean when it calls at the Port of Los Angeles from July 3 to 8 as part of a multi-year global tour.
The inauguration ceremony for Villagio Italia will be held on Wednesday, July 3 at 10:30 a.m. Italian Minister of Defense Guido Crozetto, a strong supporter of the project, will attend and speak at the ceremony. Notable attendees at the inauguration include Italian Ambassador to the United States Mariangela Zappia, Commander of the Italian Navy Admiral Enrico Credendino, Chief of Staff of the Italian Air Force General Luca Goretti, CEO of Difesa Servizzi Luca Andreoli, Captain Giuseppe Rai, Commander of the Amerigo Vespucci, California State Treasurer Fiona Ma, Los Angeles County Supervisor Janice Hahn and Los Angeles Vice Mayor Erin Bromagim.
Valentino Valentini, Deputy Minister for Enterprise and Made in Italy, will attend the closing ceremony of Villagio Italia on 8 July.

Frecce Tricolori
On July 4 at 4pm, July 6 at 7:15pm and July 8 at 7pm, the Italian Air Force’s national acrobatic team, the Frecce Tricolori, will perform an air show over Los Angeles, flying directly above the Vespucci. The event is part of their ongoing North American Tour (NAT).

Every day, visitors can enjoy a performance by the Carabinieri’s Fanfarra Cadet team, which performs inside and outside Villaggio Italia, reaching the streets of Hollywood, Santa Monica Pier and Beverly Gardens Park (times can be found on the website www.tourvespucci.it/en ).On July 5th, at 7pm, Villaggio Italia will be able to watch a performance by talented musicians from Milan’s La Scala Academy (Accademia Teatro alla Scala).

There are many exhibitions at Villagio Italia that are free to enter.
The exhibitions include “Italia Geniale”, dedicated to the history of Italian design, “Divina immersiva eccellenza” (“Divine Immersive Excellence”), an exhibition dedicated to the Italian wine tradition, “Turismo delle Radici” (“Tourism of the Roots”), an exhibition dedicated to Italians living abroad and their descendants who want to reconnect with their roots, and “Siamo Mare” (“We are the Sea”), an exhibition that presents through photographs the beauty of Italy’s seas, in harmony with the environmental protection work carried out by Vespucci in academic and university settings while promoting the goals of World Oceans Day. An exhibition of 23 ideas that became businesses tells the stories of large and small companies, family-owned and not, that stand out at home and abroad for their originality, creativity, courage and innovation, illustrating the success of the Italian economic model. Dedicated areas will display the most innovative Italian infrastructures, such as the MOSE (Experimental Electromechanical Module, in Italian MOdulo Sperimentale Elettromeccanico) in Venice and the Messina Strait Bridge project.

Villagio Italia will host the exhibition of the historic Olympic Torch from the Olympic Games held in Italy and the presence of great champions and supporters of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics.

Villagio Italia will present a new bronze work, “David”, a bold reinterpretation of Michelangelo’s masterpiece, created by Iago, one of the leading representatives of contemporary Italian art (Meeting with the artist, 6 July, 5pm).
