The town manager is seeking three qualified candidates whose terms expire on June 30, 2027, to fill vacancies on the Commission on People with Disabilities.
The Committee on Persons with Disabilities was established under Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 40, Section 8(j) and is comprised of seven members appointed by the Town Mayor and approved by the Town Council. The Committee’s goal is to ensure that persons with disabilities are able to fully and equally participate in all aspects of life. The Committee works to ensure that legal rights are advanced and that maximum opportunities, supportive services, accommodations, and accessibility are promoted in a manner that promotes dignity and self-determination. The Committee accomplishes this by reviewing and commenting on Architectural Access Board (AAB) permit applications, recognizing businesses that provide exceptional disability-friendly services, and raising awareness of the needs of persons with disabilities. For more information about the Committee, please visit the Committee’s webpage.
Pursuant to MGL Chapter 40, Section 8(j), two of the vacancies must be filled by persons with disabilities.
Interested individuals should submit a statement of interest and resume through the online application form by 6:30pm on Tuesday, June 26, 2024. If you have any questions about the work of the Disability Commission, please contact the Town Manager’s Office at 508-841-8508 or email [email protected].
