MIAMI BEACH, Fla. (WSVN) – A Miami Beach real estate investor known for his gun possessions and trouble with police has found himself in trouble again, this time in California.
Patrick Carroll was arrested Monday night in West Los Angeles after he was pursued by Los Angeles Police Department officers and then allegedly attempted to flee on foot.
A local news helicopter from Los Angeles captured Carroll’s arrest on camera.
“The suspect got out of the vehicle and ran down an embankment, but officers were able to find him a short time later,” the reporter said. “He was driving while intoxicated, but officers subsequently recovered several weapons.”
This is not the first time Carroll has had run-ins with the law.
Carroll attracted national attention a few months ago when he posted a video to Instagram that showed him firing a shotgun from a boat.
Police told 7News that officers responded to Carroll’s home on Thursday but he told them he was only firing blanks and then left.
A week later, he posted a second video of himself firing an unloaded gun, saying he would “show you how to use a gun properly.”
After multiple police visits to the residence, Carroll was taken into custody, evaluated under the Baker Act and had his guns seized by Miami Beach Police pursuant to a protective order.
Four months later, he posted a new Instagram Story saying, “I’m at Beverly Hills Guns, the most amazing gun store I’ve ever been to. I would probably kill someone if I had to choose between putting food on the table for my family.”
Hours before his arrest in Los Angeles, he uploaded a photo to his Instagram Story of himself driving a Rolls-Royce.
“It was a fake out, the suspect got out of the vehicle and appeared to surrender, then continued to flee at a high rate of speed,” said a reporter from a helicopter watching Carroll’s arrest.
The Los Angeles Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from 7News on the details of Carroll’s arrest.
