Police finally arrested a suspected stolen vehicle Thursday after a wild chase across the San Fernando Valley.
Officers with the San Fernando Police Department began pursuing the driver after he failed to stop in the city of San Fernando, sparking an hour-long pursuit that began shortly before 7:45 p.m.
The driver of a red Toyota Prius swerved around a large trailer truck as it was backing into a parking lot, nearly hitting another vehicle that was not involved in the accident, before driving up onto the curb.
At one point, the driver drove straight through a gate and into what appeared to be a dead end in front of a tire lot at the intersection of Fleetwood Street and Tujunga Avenue in Sun Valley, before crashing through a barrier, shattering the windshield and damaging the front of the vehicle.

The driver then sped away with police following closely behind.
At approximately 8:15 p.m., the driver entered the northbound lanes of I-405 in Van Nuys, eventually switching over to the eastbound lanes of CA-118 in Mission Hills, then traveling southbound on I-5 at Arleta, driving recklessly and dangerously while weaving between other vehicles at speeds of up to 110 mph.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., the driver parked in front of the closed gate of what appeared to be an apartment building at Wingate Street and Sunland Boulevard, then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.
The suspect was seen being tracked by a LAPD helicopter spotlight as he ran through the complex. As he ran, he came across a partially open garage and slipped under the door, undetected by pursuing officers.
About two hours later, LAPD officers said the suspect was finally in custody. It was not immediately clear where the suspect was found, but the Burbank and San Fernando police departments had set up a large perimeter around the area to search for him.
