Aaron’s Acres, a nonprofit organization in New Holland, Lancaster County, provides a camp experience for children and young adults with disabilities. This year, more than 95 participants from six different counties came to the six-week summer camp to get the experience they deserve. To ease parents’ worries, the camp provides one-on-one support from staff and trained medical professionals to meet the children’s medical and behavioral needs. The camp provides a safe and fun environment for children, as well as an opportunity to participate in community service projects offered by the group’s Act of Kindness program. Within the next two weeks, the camp’s older group will visit the Garden Spot Retirement Community to give back to the residents by participating in a car wash and bingo game. In addition to community service, the camp offers activities such as music therapy, swimming, horseback riding, fitness and zoo visits to keep the children interested.
