Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was arrested on suspicion of DUI in Southern California on Friday night, according to OC Register reporter Luca Evans.

Police said Addison fell asleep at the wheel of his white Rolls Royce when it was stopped and blocking lanes of a freeway near Los Angeles International Airport just after 11 p.m. Friday. Addison was arrested about 30 minutes after the DUI investigation was completed and released about two hours later.

Addison was formally charged with DUI.

“We are aware of the arrest of Jordan Addison last Friday and are currently gathering further information regarding the incident,” the Vikings said in a statement Sunday. Via ESPN’s Kevin Seifert.

The incident marks Addison’s second driving-related trouble with the Vikings. Just before training camp began last July, he was cited with reckless driving after driving his Lamborghini Urus at 140 mph in a 55 mph speed zone around Minneapolis. Addison was not arrested in that incident, but later pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor speeding charge and agreed to pay a fine.

Addison began his collegiate career at Pittsburgh, where he had 100 catches for 1,593 yards and won the Fred Biletinoff Award, given to the nation’s best wide receiver each season, during his sophomore season before transferring to USC for one final season before teaming up with new Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams in Los Angeles.

The Vikings selected Addison with the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. He had 911 receiving yards, third on the team behind receiver Justin Jefferson and tight end TJ Hockenson, and scored 10 touchdowns in his rookie season. The Vikings went 7-10 last season and missed the playoffs for the third time in the past four seasons.

The Vikings are scheduled to open training camp on July 27 in the Minneapolis area.
