Farida Bedwaj
Farida Bedwei, a software engineer who suffers from cerebral palsy, said Kotoka International Airport (KIA) was one of the most accessible facilities for people with disabilities travelling.
Bedway recounted an incident in Rwanda when she had to wait for about 30 minutes with support staff before boarding a flight.
Ms Bedway shared the news on Facebook on Wednesday (April 24) and praised staff at Kotoka International Airport for making it a relatively stress-free travel experience.
“I think Kotoka International Airport is one of the best airports when it comes to travelling with a disability. You won’t be left behind like at other airports.”
“In Kigali, after passengers had boarded, I had to wait at the gate alone for nearly 30 minutes with the assistant staff on duty. I thought the plane would leave me behind.”
“When I arrived at the plane I had to sit in the elevator for over 10 minutes banging on the plane door until they opened it for me. Never take being able to climb the stairs to an aircraft for granted or it will be very stressful! Kotka’s ground staff made my travel experience relatively stress-free,” Bedway said.
