In celebration of Intellectual Disability Awareness Month, Lebanon County Mental Health/Intellectual Disability/Early Intervention (MH/ID/EI), in collaboration with The Arc Lancaster Lebanon, will host a Disability Health and Wellness Resource Fair on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the Area on Aging Auditorium (710 Maple St, Lebanon).
A recent study by The Arc of PA focusing on the health care needs of people with disabilities found that many health care providers do not know how to effectively collaborate and communicate with people with disabilities, and people with disabilities do not know how to effectively speak to their health care providers. The goal of the Health and Wellness Resource Fair is to provide an opportunity for interaction, learn how to collaborate to improve care, and learn about providers in the community who can serve their health and wellness needs.
The purpose of the event is to provide participants with an opportunity to meet with local agencies and service providers, discuss services, experience care, discover resources and make connections. Demonstrations and health screenings will be provided, as well as information and resources from the various disability and health agencies serving Lebanon County.
The resource fair aligns with recommendation 11, “Increase community-based resources for health care and wellness,” in the Pennsylvania Department of Health report, “Recommendations for Addressing COVID-19 Health Disparities in the Disability Community.”
Date: March 2, 2024 Location: Area Aging Services Agency/Lebanon Senior Center Auditorium 710 Maple Street, Lebanon, 17046 Time: 9:00am to 12:00pm
Participation is free and the fair has something for all ages.
