The Disability Equality Index® is the world’s most comprehensive benchmarking tool for Fortune 1000 companies to measure workplace inclusion of people with disabilities within their organizations and evaluate performance across industries. The 2024 Disability Equality Index measured culture and leadership, company-wide access, employment practices (benefits, recruiting, hiring, training, retention and promotion, facilities), community engagement, supplier diversity, and responsible sourcing.

Aramark has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to an accessible and supportive workplace, ensuring employees with disabilities have the tools and resources they need to succeed. This is the eighth consecutive year that Aramark has received the highest score of 100 on the Disability Equality Index, reflecting the company’s commitment to creating an inclusive culture and enabling all employees to reach their full potential.

“We are honored to receive this recognition from Disability:IN,” said Fenimore Fisher, vice president of DEI at Aramark. “As a leading global hospitality partner, we are committed to supporting underserved communities. We are aligned with Disability:IN, working together with the purpose to drive full inclusion of people with disabilities, inspire innovation that is accessible to all, and advance a culture of inclusion.”

Thousands of Aramark employees are members of the company’s 11 Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that bring Aramark’s mission to life every day: doing great things for people, partners and communities. Aramark Thrive, dedicated to the benefit of employees who identify as having a disability and the caregivers and advocates of people with disabilities, operates year-round to support employees and the communities Aramark serves.

Earlier this year, Aramark Community Relations and Thrive ERG volunteers supported Special Olympics Pennsylvania’s Business Plunge, taking ice-cold plunges in a pool on the field at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia to raise funds for year-round sports training and competition for people with intellectual disabilities. Thrive ERG members work hard to foster an inclusive environment, actively participating in Aramark recruiting events, including a recent hiring event for individuals with autism, and hosting dozens of students at Aramark’s headquarters each year during Disability Employment Awareness Month.

“On the 10th anniversary of the Disability Equality Index, we are incredibly proud of the 542 domestic and international companies that are taking an active role in leading progress towards disability inclusion and setting a benchmark for others to follow,” said Jill Horton, President and CEO of Disability:IN. “These companies’ dedication to fostering an inclusive work environment not only attracts top talent, but also drives innovation and creates sustainable performance in today’s global marketplace. Together, we are creating a future where everyone can contribute and thrive,” said Jill Horton, President and CEO of Disability:IN.
