To celebrate Disability Pride Month in Cardiff, Pedal Power teamed up with disability charity Scope to host the city’s first Disability Pride Mass Cycle Ride in the Welsh capital this weekend. The inclusive event brought together people of all abilities to conclude this year’s celebrations.
July is International Disability Pride Month, celebrating the 1 billion disabled people around the world. Scope, the Welsh charity creating equality for disabled people across the UK, has celebrated the month with a new cycling event in collaboration with Cardiff-based disability bike hire and inclusive cycling charity Pedal Power. Members of Scope’s community group created a Disability Pride Month flag and riders were encouraged to wear disability pride colours. The colours are:
*Blue represents emotional and mental health disorders
*White represents invisible, undiagnosed disabilities
*Gold is neurodiversity
*Red represents disability
*The charcoal background commemorates those who have died due to disabilities.

“Our pedal-powered, inclusive and accessible bike rides around Cardiff have proven incredibly popular with members of Scope’s Community Collective and to round off our 2024 celebrations we thought a massive Disability Pride cycle ride would be a great fun event that everyone can take part in.”
