The Los Angeles County Department of Health is warning residents to avoid cooling off at 14 area beaches on Tuesday, July 9, as record-breaking heat continues.

The ministry warned people to avoid swimming, surfing and playing in the following locations due to high bacteria levels:
Topanga Canyon Beach in Malibu, stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from the lagoon, Mother’s Beach in Marina del Rey, entire swimming area, Malibu Lagoon at Surfrider Beach, stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from the public restrooms, Trancas Creek at Zuma Beach, stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from the pier, Inner Cabrillo Beach in San Pedro, stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from the creek, entire swimming area, Escondido Creek at Escondido State Beach, entire swimming area, Walnut Creek at Paradise Cove, entire swimming area, Solstice Creek at Dan Blocker County Beach, entire swimming area, Marie Canyon Storm Drain at Puerco Beach, stretching 100 yards up and down the coast from the public access stairs, Sweetwater Canyon Storm at Carbon Canyon Beachdrain, entire swimming area Castle Rock Storm Drain at Topanga County Beach, entire swimming area Ramirez Creek at Paradise Cove, 100 yards up and down the coast from Paradise Cove Pier Las Flores Creek, Las Flores State Beach, entire swimming area
Meanwhile, warnings have been lifted for Will Rogers State Beach (near Will Rogers Tower 18) and Santa Monica Canyon Creek at the Malibu Pier. The health department said recent samples taken at those locations confirmed water quality levels were within state standards.
