Hit-and-run driver crashes truck into Los Feliz cafe – NBC Los Angeles

Dash cam footage showed a pickup truck crashing into the outdoor seating of a cafe in Los Angeles on Friday.

Witnesses said the driver and passenger in the car did not stop to assess the damage at the Mustard Seed Cafe on Hillhurst Avenue near Franklin Avenue.

“The car accelerated into the cafe and went through about six tables that were open at the time,” said Brad Vassar, who was sitting a few feet away from the crash scene.[The truck] He circled the parked car, got back onto the road and then drove off down the street without stopping to see if anyone was hurt.”

Thankfully no one was injured, but workers from the Mustard Seed Cafe could be seen making repairs throughout the day.

But what was shocking to Vassar, beyond the hit-and-run incident, was that it took police nearly an hour to arrive at the cafe, and that he never filed a police report.

“They didn’t seem interested in pursuing the truck,” Vassar recalled, explaining that the officer told him they wouldn’t be filing a police report because there had only been property damage. “It was pretty shocking that they didn’t try to find this guy, find out if he was going to hit somebody, or find out what was going on.”

The dash cam footage does not appear to show the license plate of the older model truck.

Witnesses said the driver appeared to be a man and there was a passenger sitting next to him.
