VANCOUVER, BC , June 19, 2024 /CNW/ — The International Forum for Disability Management (IFDM) began with a vision to bring together representatives of disability management and return-to-work stakeholders from around the world to bring together consensus-based best practices, cutting-edge research, and global perspectives on successful disability management/return-to-work policies, programs, and practices.
IFDM 2024 will be the 11th edition of the highly acclaimed IFDM worldwide. It began in Vancouver in 2002 and went on to host in Maastricht in 2004, Brisbane in 2006, Berlin in 2008, Los Angeles in 2010, London in 2012, Melbourne in 2014, Kuala Lumpur in 2016, Vancouver in 2018, Brussels in 2022 and is now returning to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada as IFDM 2024.
We recognise that with a significant increase in the number of people with mental health disorders in addition to those with physical health problems, a holistic health approach in the workplace is crucial, and early intervention and effective vocational rehabilitation are the most effective and sustainable approach to maintaining gainful employment whilst avoiding potential poverty, addiction or worse.
Join us at the cutting edge of effective disability management: there will be over 50 high-quality presentations from across Canada and internationally, and topic areas covered will include AI as it relates to disability management, mental health, comprehensive approaches to disability management, poverty reduction, and a range of topics impacting the workplace and return to work.
Keynote speakers will include British Columbia’s Minister of Labour, Harry Baines; Canada’s first National Accessibility Officer, Stephanie Cadiu; and Professor Joachim Breuer, CEO of the German Federal Workers’ Compensation System and President of the International Social Security Association. Co-chairs will be UNIFOR’s Assistant National Secretary-General, Sari Siiranen, and WSIB’s Vice President of Workplace Health and Safety Services, Rod Cook.
