Shortly after the street siege was reported on Monday morning, dozens of people were seen looting at an AutoZone in Los Angeles’ Vermont Vista neighborhood.
A Los Angeles Police Department spokesman confirmed that police received a report of a street occupation in the area of Century Boulevard and Hoover Street shortly before 4 a.m.
A few minutes later, another call came in reporting about 50 people had broken into a nearby AutoZone and were stealing items.

Video shows looters prying open a metal security gate and smashing glass doors and windows to gain entry into the store.
Among the people carrying items out of the store was a man wearing a red hoodie with his face covered.
After the crowds had left, several car parts, including car batteries, were found abandoned in front of the AutoZone.
When officers arrived on scene, they attempted to stop the vehicle, which fled the scene, and a short pursuit ensued, a spokesperson told KTLA.
At some point, the suspect entered the freeway and called for assistance from the California Highway Patrol.
Police said the suspect was eventually taken into custody at Pepper Street and East Sycamore Street in El Segundo and one person was arrested.
Further details about the street occupation were not immediately released.
The incident remains under investigation.
