Los Angeles Police Officer Shot During Traffic Stop, Suffering Bullet Wound


According to the Los Angeles Police Department, a man stopped by police for a traffic violation in South Los Angeles on Wednesday night opened fire on officers, leaving one officer with a graze wound.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the shooting happened around 9:30 p.m. near Broadway and West 135th Street in the Willowbrook neighborhood. Police say a traffic suspect fired shots at officers, who returned fire.

The shooter was still on the run the following morning.

The LAPD has not said why the officers conducted the traffic stop.

Police said a second officer involved in the incident may have been injured by broken glass from the gunfire, but it was unclear if the shooter was also wounded by gunfire.

Both officers are in stable condition, according to the LAPD.

Police have not released any other details, such as a suspect description, of the suspect.
