Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers intervened in a pro-Palestinian protest that turned violent on Sunday, when angry demonstrators marched outside a Jewish synagogue in the California city and clashed with a group of people opposing their cause.

Footage circulating on social media showed the protest descending into chaos, with people seen fighting outside a bakery, and some people trying to block entry to the synagogue were seen bleeding on video.
Police officers in riot gear tried to stop pro-Palestinian protesters from becoming violent early today, while Jewish opponents had to endure being sprayed and hurled objects, local media reported. Street fights broke out, with reports saying several people were injured.

Additionally, police made several arrests in an attempt to defuse the situation. One video of the incident shows officers in riot gear pointing their guns at a car outside an anti-Semitic protest against Jews. The car crashes into an unknown number of protesters. A man wearing a metal mask then gets out of the car and makes aggressive gestures towards the officers.
The cause of the violence is not yet clear. However, authorities have made several arrests. The Los Angeles Police Department has launched an investigation. Police are expected to release a detailed statement on the situation.
