Los Angeles weather: Onset of summer means rising temperatures in Southern California


LOS ANGELES (KABC) — The first weekend of summer is bringing hot temperatures to Southern California.

Heat watches and warnings have been issued in parts of Southern California, especially in the desert, as temperatures are expected to exceed 100 degrees Fahrenheit over the next few days, with Palm Springs and Victorville potentially reaching 110 degrees.

Los Angeles and Orange counties will see a high of 88 degrees on Sunday, with a slight chance of rain as moisture moves into the region.

Temperatures in the Valley and Inland Empire will reach a high of 97 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday with a 20 percent chance of precipitation. Temperatures will drop to the 70s overnight.

The beaches will remain cool with clouds forming during the morning, but the high will be 76 degrees by Sunday afternoon.

Mountain areas can expect sunny and warm conditions Sunday, with temperatures around 83 degrees. There’s a 30 percent chance of rain.

The desert will be sunny and hot, with temperatures reaching 106 degrees Fahrenheit on Sunday, including 111 degrees in Palm Springs.
