NGO: ‘10,000 Palestinians disabled by Israeli bombing’ |

The Palestinian NGO network Rehabilitation Sector has issued a statement issuing a stern warning about the serious impact of Israel’s ongoing aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

The network stressed that around 10,000 Palestinians suffered varying degrees of disability as a direct result of Israeli attacks.

In a statement, the group mourned the deaths of hundreds of people with disabilities, adding that ongoing Israeli attacks have left thousands disabled.

The report said the ongoing crisis has forced tens of thousands of people with special needs to flee, leaving them in difficult living conditions with no access or access to needed medical supplies and assistive devices, and facing severe mental distress.

The statement further noted that Israeli military actions have not only caused physical harm to thousands of Palestinians, including permanent disabilities, but also severely hindered the movement and access of persons with disabilities to basic services.

The destruction of vital infrastructure, roads and rehabilitation centres has left thousands of people with special needs struggling to travel to safety, leading to vital aid equipment being abandoned in the face of relentless bombardment.
