A suspect who robbed another man at a gas station died in a crash after the victim gave chase.
According to initial reports, later confirmed by the Los Angeles Police Department, a 21-year-old man was at a gas station in the West Adams neighborhood of Los Angeles on Saturday evening when a group of armed men approached and robbed him.

The suspects then fled the scene in a white sedan, with the victim pursuing them in a Mercedes-Benz SUV.
At some point during the pursuit, the victim crashed his SUV into the suspect’s sedan, causing the sedan to lose control and crash into a light pole at the corner of Adams Boulevard and West View Street, according to video from the scene obtained by KTLA.

One of the suspects, said to be the driver of the sedan, died in the crash.
After the crash, other suspects escaped the wreckage and shot a 21-year-old man before fleeing. At least one suspect was found hiding in a nearby backyard by a police dog and detained, according to preliminary information.
The robbery victim remained at the scene after the incident and cooperated with police, but it is unclear if he was injured or what he initially stole.
The incident is currently being investigated as a homicide, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, but it’s unclear if the original robbery victim is in custody.
