Test your memory with this week’s LA Times news quiz

Welcome to the post-Emmy nominations edition of the Los Angeles Times News Quiz. There was enough newsworthy, record-breaking information about the 2024 nominees announced Wednesday morning that all 10 multiple-choice questions on this week’s quiz were Emmy-related. But there’s a lot else going on in the world, right? The recently announced vice presidential candidate, the Olympics in Paris, Heal the Bay’s annual report card pointing out the state’s dirtiest beaches. (Those last two stories are more related than you might think, because they have one thing in common… sewage!)

That’s why I’ve resisted the urge to cover all of the Emmys this week and instead narrowed it down to just two of the most nominated shows (which also happen to be my favorite shows): “The Bear,” which received a record number of nominations, and “Only Murders in the Building,” which appears to have nominated everyone in its cast except for the Pickwick Trio.

This week we’ll also have more questions than usual derived from obituaries, and although I prefer more light-hearted content in my news quizzes, sometimes news of someone’s death, however sad (I’m looking at you, fitness guru Richard Simmons), can provide valuable knowledge that you’ll want to share.

Are you ready to have fun? You are, so let’s get started.
