‘You guys are idiots’: Trump campaign caught attacking Kamala Harris’ disability advocacy work

Shortly after Joe Biden endorsed his running mate, Kamala Harris, as the next president, Donald Trump’s campaign shared a video mocking a clip of Harris addressing a disability rights group.

In the video, Harris can be seen saying, “I’m Kamala Harris. My pronouns are ‘she’ and ‘her.’ I’m the woman wearing the blue suit sitting at the table.”

RNC Research, which is managed by the Trump campaign, posted the video on Sunday. The group only posted a statement about Harris’ identity and outfit.

The problem, of course, is that the Trump campaign doesn’t appear to have done any “investigation” into the context of the meeting itself: Harris was reportedly meeting “with disability rights leaders in commemoration of the anniversary of the ADA.”

According to an analysis by The Atlantic, “Harris’ event took place on the anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act and focused on the impact of new abortion restrictions on people with disabilities. One aspect of the convention designed to cater to blind and visually impaired audiences was the short self-introductions by speakers. Other speakers at the same event (who all appear to be human) did the same.”

AJ Delgado, a former Trump campaign staffer, also spoke about disability rights at the meeting.

“She was speaking to a table of blind people, you idiots,” she wrote on Sunday.
